It is very important to clean your pavers thoroughly before sealing them. Paver sealing takes patience and knowlege in both preparation of the paver sealing area as well as the application of high end commercial sealers. Commercial degreasers usualy work best for a good deep clean before paver sealing. If you have need to remove oil stains, paint etc then special chemicals will be needed and a steam clean using water at least 200 degrees will yield best results. Whether you use a degreaser to clean your pavers prior to restoring them or any other chemicals to treat oil stains and more, you MUST rinse thoroughly. The purpose of preperation is to get the pavers as clean as possible for the depth of the pores to the surface of the paver. Time and time again I see people not rinse properly (this takes patience) and this can negativiely affect the final results.
If you are stripping off old sealer before resealing the same rules apply…..make sure you rinse off every last bit of stripper before paver sealing or you will have a disaster on your hands.
